TUM Records uses works of Finnish artists as cover art for its releases in order to visually distinguish them. The paintings used in the releases by TUM Records were chosen in collaboration with the artist himself.
Visa Norros (b. 1960) is one of Finland´s best known graphic artists. From early on, he has focused on making monotypes, a technique that can be placed somewhere between traditional graphic art, such as lithography, and painting.
For several years, Visa Norros has been working mostly with unique prints utilizing old offset plates as a basis for his own personally developed technique. The ink is worked into the plates with corrugated cardboard, brushes, spatulas and other tools known only to the artist. His pictures can be viewed as a private universe, oversaturated spaces charged and vibrating, a unique blend of emotions and technique.
Norros has studied at Aukusti Tuhka´s Workshop and with his mother Heta Norros, a well-known printmaker and printer. He has also studied at Cité des Artes and at Atelier Clot, Bramsen et Georges in Paris. Norros received the second prize at the 1990 Jyväskylä Biennale for his cardborundum prints. In addition to Finland, Norros has exhibited in a number of other European countries as well as India and Tanzania.
